Since 2015 Marika Senkāne has been a senator of the Senate’s Department of Civil Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia. She has been working as a judge for more than 20 years. Previously, from 2008 she was a judge of the Supreme Court's Civil Chamber, worked as a judge at the Civil Division of the Riga District Court between 2003 and 2008, as well she worked as a judge at the Riga City Kurzeme District Court from 1996 to 2003. Before that M. Senkāne was the Head of the Revenue Division of the Social Insurance Department of the Ministry of Welfare, the head adviser of the Criminal Law Division of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia, as well as the secretary of the hearings of the Supreme Court.

Since 2015 Marika Senkāne is a lecturer of the Latvian Judicial Training Centre and the secretary of the Plenum of the Supreme Court.

M. Senkāne acquired an academic Master of Law degree with specialization in Civil Law at the University of Latvia in 2009.
