Valdis Verners – Member of the Central Election Commission
Valdis Verners has been a member of the Central Election Commission since November 2015. Re-elected to the Central Election Commission on 21 March 2019.
He has acquired the experience of holding elections by participating in the organisation of the Saeima, municipal and the European Parliament elections. He also observed elections abroad – in Azerbaijan, Canada, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and the United States.
Since January 2019 V. Verners has been an adviser in legal matters to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development. Previously he worked as a parliamentary assistant. Between October 2012 and November 2013 he was a freelance adviser on legal matters to the Minister for Education and Science. Valdis Verners has obtained a professional Master of Law degree at the University of Latvia, as well a professional degree of the Master of Business Administration at the BA School of Business and Finance.
Since March 2016 Valdis Verners is a member of the Board of Delna, the Latvian chapter of Transparency International (“Sabiedrība par atklātību – Delna”), as well he is a member of the State Examination Commission of the BA School of Business and Finance since 2015.
Nominated for election to the Central Election Commission by the Party Alliance “For Development/For!“ (Attīstībai/Par!).
