The Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved recommendations for the prevention of Covid-19 infection in the Riga City Council elections of 29 August.
The recommendation intends to implement measures to protect voters, members of polling stations commissions, employees and election observers from Covid-19 infection, while ensuring the electoral rights specified in the City Council and Municipality Council Election Law and in the Law on Dissolution of the Riga City Council.
The recommendations made by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) are taken into account in the preparation of the recommendations. However, the implementation of the specific safety measures may vary depending on the epidemiological situation in the country and the recommendations of the specialists, but the Riga City Election Commission, in cooperation with the CEC and the Riga Council, is already preparing to provide the necessary health measures regardless of the situation.
